Good Morning Amsterdam
Art in Netherland always played an important role. Landscape is the favorite category in Dutch paintings. Huge skyes represent the fresh air that is needed to travel by sailing to the new world – also politically.
The historic ports of Amsterdam and Rotterdam brought in new ideas, that’s why people here are open minded. An open mind is important for wellfare and economics as well as for social wellfare.
Young people, actually everybody is responsible to go on with this tradition of beeing open minded and learn from history. It is always a bit of both of them. But not only looking at the old things – transporting them in a new mannor to our times is the challenge. What was good and how did they live is only one part of the question. What will be good for our new generation, far away from how we lived in history, this is the answer, we have to find. Old paintings and even more old book are full of spirit. And spirit is even in a time of „blurring everything“ the mending material.

Message to the students
Herzlichen Dank an alle für das mit grosser Energie gepackte Sketching und für das Durchhalten im Rahmen unserer Blockwoche. Ein grosses Dankeschön auch für die vielen ‚good vibrations‘. Wir haben miteinander eine kleine ‚Protagonisten-Studienreise‘ gemacht.
Es gab eine Einleitung vorab auf dem Blog – eine Auslegung ‚Was könnte ich machen?‘ – dann die Verdichtung ‚Was ist meine Idee?‘ – auch eine Krise ‚Vergessene Turnschuhe‘ gab’s – und dann sicherlich den Höhepunkt an der IABR in Rotterdam und zum Abschluss noch den Treff ‚Urban People meets Classics‘ im Rijks.
Es hat uns wirklich riesig gefreut, dass Sie grosses Engagement gezeigt haben und nun etwas mit nach Hause nehmen können. Es hat sich gelohnt. Wir meinen die erarbeitete Erkenntnis, dass das Design von Next Economic & Future Livable City die riesigen und drängenden Challenges ihrer Generation sind, die Sie mit anpacken sollten. Sie haben’s in den Input-Referaten und Panels mehrfach gehört: ‚MMPler‘ sind in der Rolle als Future Design Vermittler gefordert und sollten eine Schlüsselfunktion im Journalismus, in der Medienproduktion und für die Ideen-Visualisierung übernehmen. Sketching ist ein Teil davon. Noch immer scheint die Sonne in Amsterdam.
Wir wünschen allen eine gute Heimreise (in ihre Zukunft).
